the jockey wheel for the trolley is a very nasty bit of metal. Do people chuck it in the boot of the car or lash it elsewhere somehow?
I am considering making some kind of bracket to be able to fix it onto the trailer (horizontally). I have 3 kids and dont have a great deal of spare boot space in the car!
I have the perfect answer. The wheel fits vertically between the bow and the mast support on the trailer and it doesn't even need to be tied on. It won't fall off and it can't damage anything. I really need to take a picture of this to demonstrate as it is far too difficult to articulate in words.
I just leave it in place, winch the wheel up until it touches the horizontal bar and tie it in place with a shock-cord with a hook at each end (the shock cord goes over the horizontal bar and the hooks attach to the arms either side of the wheel). The whole thing takes about 30 seconds.
I think you are talking about the jockey wheel on the trailer. The problem everyone has is with the jockey wheel on the launching trolley which can't be left in place as the spigot on the trailer fits through the same socket to lock the trolley in place when on the trailer.
