 Outboard Motor for Stratos Keel

I would like to use an outboard motor on my Stratos Keel. Has anyone any advice on the optimum size of motor for use in tidal waters.

I was told that a 2.2 hp normal shaft was perfectly adequate for a normal stratos, I bought a 2.5hp mariner for £320, and she flies a long

Thanks Nigel, Laser have since advised me that they recommend a max of 3hp, so your 2.5 hp sounds about right.

I sail out of Christchurch, Dorset. A mercury 3.3 works ok for everything but the strongest of tides in the main channel.

I have a mercury 3.3 but have nothing but problems and terrible customer service from the manufacturer and dealer. I would strongly advise that you avoid Mercury and go with a Yamaha or Honda.
