As a recent new arrival in the fleet, I'm loving the Stratos. I have a couple of queries: 1) Any advice on keeping the centreboard down? Today I shoved some plastic into the slot to wedge it in, but not ideal. 2) The spinakker halyard gets tangled up in the bottom of the boat. Do most people attach it to some bungee cord led aft to keep it out of trouble, as on a Laser 4K? 3) I'd like to get an outboard for it; we're going to do Fowey Week and then want to take the kids out for some fun trips under power. I'm thinking the Honda short shaft 2.3 looks good at £440, would this be suitable? I'd be most grateful for any advice on the above. Simon

The centreboard issue can be resolved by either screwing down the plastic piece of pipe or removing and replacing. The easier alternative is to attach a piece of shockcord to the rope handle and then clipping to the rear toe strap adjusters (I think I attach it there but I will check)...I have had mine like this for quite a while and it works fine
Spinnaker halyard.....I have'nt done as you suggest preferring the 'blame it on the crew' technique (loud shouting) but as I now sometimes end up crewing I might do the same !....as you suggest works really well on other boats.
Never got round to getting an engine as for some reason we like the 'excitement' of getting tide and wind right ! although with a younger family sounds like a must...lots of threads on here re engines and I am sure those more knowledgable will reply......
Fowey week sounds good and glad you are enjoying the boat...how about the Nationals in July ? Anyway time to go sailing !
regards

We have a Honda 2.3 short shaft and it works well.
We had been thinking about the same spinnaker halyard mod as well, as it is quite frustrating how often the halyard gets tangled, especially on the drop.

so a question

do you find it best to fix the motor ahead and use the rudder, or use the engine to steer?
