Hi! I am interested in a stratos keel for family sailing with my kids (3 and 5 years old). Is the weigth of 300kg difficult to handle when bringing the boat into water?
Thanks for any information. Or is the centerboard version safe enough? Thomas

Hi Thomas,

The Stratos Keel is a dream to sail with kids. I sail mine with my wife and 4 kids, aged 8-6-4-2. The keel makes the boat feel like a much larger boat, and you don't have to worry about capsizing. It is very forgiving too and tolerates big mistakes with kindness!

It is a bit heavy indeed on shore. I've managed to recover mine on my own once, but it takes a bit of practice. With two people handling it, it is very easy to recover as the winch gets it neatly on the trailer, and the car does the rest. Note that I haven't tried to launch and recover on sand yet.

Regards,
Pascal
