Hello,

I don't have a stratos yet, but I am considering buying one. Therefore I have the following questions:
1) Is it possible to bring the stratos in planing conditions?
2) If possible, what is the windstrength and direction which can make it plane?
3) What speeds are possible with a stratos?

Kind regards,
Sjors Zoontjens

Hello Sjors,
I have a center-board version and it planes -no problem. With the gennaker it will plane in 12-14knots of wind (I am guessing)- anything over that and the boat is quite fast - much faster than her provisional handicap suggests. In a coastal race with a handheld gps we were quite comfortably doing 14 - 16 knots in a F4 - F5. I am sure I have gone faster but was concentrating too hard to absorb the speed. It really goes well in the heavier winds !! Of course the good thing is that if it is too much, you can reef the main and roll up the jib as I have done to sit out some very strong winds while RS800's and 400's were capsizing all around.
