Just spent the weekend unwrapping my new toy and have a question about assembling the mast.
I attached the spreaders as per the instructions no problem. The instructions then say to clamp the shrouds at the spreader end so that the shroud between the spreader end and mast is "taught". My question is: how taught is taught? Holding the shroud tight and then clamping results in sag between mast and spreader (as the spreader has some flex in it and is pulled upwards slightly) so the only way to get this "taught" would be to slightly bend the spreaders up so that they hold the shroud more tight.
What should I be doing here? Do I leave the sag in (which should come out when the rigging is tensioned)?
I'm not sure if this is correct but I have tightened the clamp at the end of the spreader only just tight enough to grip the shroud. This allows the shroud to move up or down through the spreader equalizing the tension above and below it. Then the spreader doesn't bend up or down.
Hi guys, just back in the office from the show! The end cap on the spreader should be tightened enough so that the slack on the shroud above the spreader can be pulled through by hand, if you want to give me a call please do so 01327 841604 in the office all of today (wed) then at the show, My phone will be on divert to my mobile so you can still get me!
