Hi all,
For my sins I've taken over from David as the webmaster for the class association web site, so from now on if anything goes pear-shape it's my fault!
To start with I've deleted all the messages older than 3 months from the message board to improve performance. Please let me know if you see a difference. I intend to do this periodically to keep the message board in good shape. If anybody thinks old messages should be kept for a longer time please let me know. I've kept a copy of the old messages for reference.
Finally, if you have any suggestion about the web site, please email me. We welcome all contributions, race stories, cruising stories, pictures, etc., so to your keyboards!
Regards, Pascal

While deciding whether to buy a Stratos I found some really good help browsing through the old messages.
Is it possible to archive them? |

| Ok, I'll see what I can do. I'll try to display the messages in pages. But I don't think I will be able to leave more than 6 months online. |

Firstly all thanks to Pascal for taking on the website. A courageous move which should be applauded!
The most usual and by far the best way to archive old messages is to create a FAQ (frequently asked questions) It does however require someone to trawl through all the old material and ruthlessly edit out all the duplications and, where opinions have differed, diplomatically select the best answers.A series of FAQ's e.g. Rig tuning FAQ, Hull fittings FAQ etc allows the documents to be easily broken down into manageble sizes and stored on a different page of the website. I'm probably 'teaching my grandmother to suck eggs' here so I'll shut up now.

I agree with Pete's point. I bought a Stratos CB earlier in the summer and found several answers to questions right across the msg board. FAQs might be the best way forward; there has been a lot of useful information captured and it would be a shame to loose it. |
