I'm thinking of buying a second hand Stratos (centre board). Are there any points I should specially look out for on any boats I view. I see from other messages that leaks, rudder pintles and cracking at the front of the gate can be a problem.

Pintles - I doubt you can see anything until its too late. I'd replace.

Rudder - check for cracks inside the pivot hole.

Assymetric - if it isn't "crackly" it is probably knackered, will be difficult to pull in/out of chute and have a horrible shape.

Job - again cheap material and I think needs replacing every season.

mainsail - seems bullt proof.

BUT the boats are great fun, we really enjoy ours.
