Having just about recovered from the trip home around the M25 (Nightmare)

I just wanted to say Thank you to everyone who was there, especially the Rivers and The Jezeirski families for making it all possible.

My crew, John and I had a great time and passed the 4 hour drive home rerunning the entire event in detail. To arrive with a brand new boat and almost NO genniker experience was asking a bit much of ourselves. But the friendly reception and relaxed attitude to the racing put us at ease. We (or at least I) chickened out of flying the kite on day one due to there being rather more wind than forecast. However day two was just about perfect for a first try at the big sail and we even managed to stay upright(ish)

Apart from the sailing I think the spontaneous curry eating festival was a high point of the weekend and should be made a requirement for all entrants to ensure an even level of fragility on the final day!

I hope everyone enjoyed it all as much as we did and I look forward many more and even better weekends in your company.

Pete

I'll be interested in attending next year. How many boats were there?

10 C/B's and a Keel. It was clear that properly sailed there is little difference between them. I suspect the keel suffers from its own stability in so far as one tends to let it look after itself on the beats. Now any Flying Fifteen sailor knows how important it is to to 'Keep It Flat'. I suspect the biggest improvement keel sailors will find is to treat it as if it is a C/B version and not an SB3! even if it does feel like one!

A great time was had by all in winds ranging from 4/5 on Saturday down to 3/2 by end of Sunday.

There is a proposal to Hold the next Nats as part of the new Lymington Regatta Week at the end of June 2004. Usually the end of June is good for nice weather, warm with some wind. Lymington is a sailing Mecca and there's lots of campsites and fixed caravan sites as well as loads of other accomodation. I reckon we could look forward to 20+ boat starts which would be really great. Imagine 20 Strats close together on a Genniker reach in the sunlight.. Everyone will want to rush out and get one!
