After much agonising and many talks with Paul James of The Laser Centre. I have finally ordered and now await the delivery (due 18th October)of our new Stratos. I hope to get to the Nationals, where you can all show me the right way to rig the the thing! I would, however, like to find out if there are any other stratos owners in my area. We live in North Dorset with easy access to Weymouth & Portland, Lyme Regis, Poole and in the other direction Bristol and Watchet. We would like to sail and possibly race with other Stratos and Laser 2000 owners. Our Family club is Sutton Bingham SC which is near Yeovil. The club has recently welcomed a new Laser 2000 owner and has the usual fleet of Lasers plus several other Laser classes in small numbers. Our biggest racing fleet is the Phantom class and I'm hoping we can get in amongst them next season! So if anyone else out there wants to contact me we'd be delighted to organise some sailing 'in company' or even get an 'open' going during next season. Now all I need to do is pray for some rain as The great washed public of Somerset have drunk and bathed in most of our water!

Mark,
I live near bath and also have a stratos for the family. I have not yet found many others near by so have just joined Lymington Town although i don't know if they have any there. My hope is that by joing an active club then I might at least get some handicap racing. The only class racing I have heard of is through the association. My plan is to try and get to the Nationals but would be keen to try some sailing in company and or racing. Drop me a line if you're interseted.

I'm a member of Lymington Town. I have sailed a Stratos there since I bought it last November. We have five or so in the Club, but only two race regularly. We race every Sunday and Wednesday night May to September. We sail on the Western Solent, renowned for chop and strong tides - the Stratos is ideal. We also have a Club Dinghy Cruise the first Saturday in the month, May to September and dinghy 'meandering' every Thusday morning - weather permitting. Come and join us. (Although boat parking is restricted and there is a waiting list, usually cleared every Spring). Mike. |
