Yes, it's the same diameter rope, but the length you use (or where you tie the stopper/ball determines how far the pole extends.

If I remember correctly, the gennaker tack line is the same as the halyard. Have a look at http://www.laserstratos.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=447

Can anyone advise on the length and diameter of the gennaker tack line, which isn't included in the rope kit?
